A story spanning three centuries.
Villa Rodrigo, once known as Cascina Alpis, preserves the memory of an eighteenth-century rural complex whose form, function and owners evolved over time.
From the origins
Cascina Genevosio
The earliest historical information currently traced dates to the third decade of the eighteenth century. The rural complex was then associated with the Genevosio family. A 1752 grazing map by Count Provana depicts the “Cassina Genevesio” as a single enclosed courtyard farm in the territory of Volpiano.
The estate formed part of a wider agricultural system of land, farms and productive activities. During the eighteenth century, the Genevosio family strengthened its presence in the area, and part of the inheritance later passed through Modesto Ignazio and Giovanni Aurelio Genevosio.
Over time the complex developed a more articulated layout, with a larger courtyard of rural and productive character and a smaller, more residential and refined courtyard connected to the main residence.
In recent decades, the area around the rural courtyard underwent a major building recovery completed about ten years ago, while the main residence, private chapel, former stables and smaller courtyard still retain the character of a historic core awaiting restoration.
It is from this condition that the contemporary Villa Rodrigo project emerges: a path of conservative and functional restoration designed to restore value to the spaces and create new opportunities for encounter without erasing the traces of the past.
